Dr. Shereen Oca Beilstein is an educational psychology researcher, whose interests span STEM education, developmental psychology, and the learning sciences. With a background in education reporting and graduate training in developmental sciences, Shereen is keenly aware of the variability in resources schools have and she aims to contribute to research that enriches the experiences of all learners. In her role at IWERC, Shereen works with stakeholders from across the state to research the factors that support recruitment and retention of a diverse, high-quality teacher workforce in Illinois.

Prior to joining the IWERC team, Shereen earned her Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her research examines the processes and contexts that support both students’ development of reasoning skills and mathematics knowledge and teachers’ professional learning about mathematics instruction.
