Dr. Yi Wang is a Postdoctoral Research Associate with Illinois Workforce and Education Research Collaborative at Discovery Partners Institute at the University of Illinois. Yi earned her Ph.D. in social work with a concentration in social policy analysis from Columbia University. Yi’s research focuses on understanding and addressing inequality in child development and wellbeing during early childhood, with cross-nation comparative perspective.
Yi is particularly interested in investigating the mechanism of ecological environment (e.g., parents, child care, school, and community) in affecting child development and wellbeing using developmental perspective. Another indispensable part of her research is studying the role of early childhood interventions and safety-net sustenance policies in supporting and empowering disadvantaged children. Yi adopts a wide range of advanced methods in answering her research questions, such as causal inference, multilevel modeling, structural equation modeling, and decomposition analysis.
