The Pritzker Foundation is led by trustees Penny Pritzker, Tom Pritzker, Nick Pritzker and Gigi Pritzker, all but one of whom live in Chicago. The generation before them — and in Nick’s case, his own generation — founded Hyatt hotels. They’re all descendants of a Ukrainian immigrant who arrived in Chicago in 1881.
They also are some of Chicago’s leading tech investors. Former U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker manages her own venture capital portfolio, while Nick Pritzker is the founder of Chicago’s Clean Energy Trust and Tao Capital, which invest in tech and alternative energy startups.
