Faculty experts in AI from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign will lead the course, which includes a session on developing business-oriented proof-of-concept prototypes in real time.

“Gen AI for Business Innovation” will be led by Vishal Sachdev, clinical associate professor of business administration, director of MS Analytics and of Illinois MakerLab, and DPI faculty in residence; and Jacob Kinsey, director of Illinois Business Consulting and of the Magelli Office of Experiential Learning at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Session 1: Understanding Generative AI
- Welcome and Introduction: Overview of the workshop agenda and introduction of the facilitator and participants.
- What is Generative AI Good For?: Case studies and hands-on exercises on generating text, images, or other media, including discussions on limitations and best practices for prompting
- Analysis and Task Completion: Case studies and hands-on exercises on using AI for analysis and completing specific tasks
- Process Automation: Comprehensive case study on using AI for process automation, including hands-on exercises with tools like Zapier.
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Lunch and Networking break (1 hour)
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Session 2: Implementing Generative AI in Your Business
- What is Generative AI Not Good At? Mental models to understand what GenAI is not good at. Compare GenAI with traditional ML, and discuss issues like lack of reasoning capability, repeatability, consistency, bias, and accuracy.
- Implementing Generative AI in Your Business: Brainstorming session to identify opportunities, challenges, and potential solutions.
- Developing an Action Plan to automate a process
- Develop Proof of Concept Prototypes: Hands-on session to build use cases with a no-code tool
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Conclusion and Wrap-up
