Abstract:
Dr. Huiyong Xiao will introduce his experiences as a researcher, engineer, entrepreneur, investor, and technology adopter. He will share his insights into the connections from research to technologies and from products to market. Following that, Dr. Xiao will talk about his thoughts and suggestions to enhancing the operations in the innovation cycle. The talk will conclude with a brief Q&A.
Biosketch:
Dr. Xiao is a senior software engineer at GoDaddy, responsible for R&D of the personalized content delivery across the company. Before joining GoDaddy, he co-founded an EdTech startup and led the research and adoption of AI technologies in its educational products as CTO. Dr. Xiao served as an investment manager in a venture capital based at Silicon Valley, covering the market and product analysis in the areas of AI, Enterprise SaaS, and Healthcare. Prior to that, he worked at Microsoft as software engineer and later applied data scientist in the Windows department, and as a core team player, shipped Windows App Store and Windows desktop search.
Dr. Xiao obtained his PhD of CS from University of Illinois at Chicago in 2006. He was a researcher in the ADVIS lab led by Professor Isabel Cruz. His primary research focus was on Semantic Web and Data Integration.
