This five-week summer program for 11th and 12th graders, as well as incoming and current college students, to build skills in computing and college and career-readiness, while connecting with Chicago’s dynamic tech community. Students can choose from 5 learning tracks: CS100 & CS111 (for college credit); data science, mobile app development, and computer engineering.​

Digital Scholars is intentional about serving Black and Latinx students, CPS and Chicago-area students, and first-generation students — at NO cost.

DISCOVER COMPUTING 1

Summer Sessions: Monday through Friday
August 8-12, 2022 – 9 AM to 1 PM

Learn More

Participating 9th and 10th graders engage in hands-on sessions to explore computing concepts and tools, including web development using HTML/CSS, machine learning using Python, and data analysis, as well as develop skills in problem-solving and team-building through design thinking activities.
These sessions will be held in person at DPI’s downtown office (200 S. Wacker).

Discover Computing 1 is designed to support students without prior computer science knowledge or experience.

Teaching Endorsement in Computer Science

Next Cohort begins June 13th

In Summer 2022, UIUC’s College of Education, with implementation support from DPI, is launching the 2nd cohort of its  Teaching Endorsement in Computer Science (CSTed)!
With curriculum specifically focused on the teaching and learning of CS, this online plan of study is designed for current teachers with a valid Professional Educator License (PEL) in grades 5-12.
